Re: [TXCOMAL] Comal County Historical (tRSSNews)
I have an old photo of the Gruene Mercantile. Doe she just want us to eamil
the photos to her? jpeg??
I also have some old school photos but so far no one has been able to tell
me which school they were although I suspect that they were somewhere in the
Goodwin area. However they were taken from inside the school building not
outside sometime around 1908.
Thanks,
Linda Mullen

PRES. THEODORE ROOSEVELT STOPS IN NB (tRSSNews)
An unforgettable event happened here in New Braunfels in 1905. Of course you would have to be at least 104 years old to have been there. I heard it from my parents who heard it from their parents. I’m talking about the day the President of the United States came to town. Never mind that he never got off the train and that he stayed but a few minutes. It was an unforgettable

CITY AND CC FAIR CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL Or “SPASS MUSS SEIN” IN 1946 (tRSSNews)
The year 1946 was a premium year for celebrations here in New Braunfels. From its beginning in 1845, the town had celebrated almost everything with parades, dances, festivals, (“Spass muss sein”, or fun must be) but 1946 was special. World War II had ended in September of 1945 and NB’s centennial celebration should have been that year, but WW II was such a sad time

A Southern California mother whose two children were reported missing 15 years ago has tracked them down in Florida using Facebook. The mother recently typed one of the children's names into Facebook and a listing for her daughter, now a teenager, came up. The mom contacted authorities,

OLD LIBRARY TO BE RENOVATED (tRSSNews)
Emmie Seele Faust was the daughter of one of New Braunfels’ most outstanding citizens, Hermann Seele. He provided a good roll model for his daughter and for her 90 years, she contributed much to her beloved city. Mrs. Faust’s father, you recall, taught the first school in NB and it was only natural that his daughter would be interested in education. She was active in many

By Myra Lee Adams Goff Have you ever heard the story of Chief Red Wing and how he became the first person to get the death penalty in Comal County? It’s a sad and terrible story. Here’s how it goes: On Oct. 6, 1930, Henry Cavazos, proprietor of the Cuban Shows, pitched a large tent about five blocks east of Main Plaza on Seguin Street for his traveling show. These traveling
