Add your Comal County Genealogy Queries to the Web Site

You can add your own genealogy queries to the Comal County Genealogy Society website.  It's not that hard, and it may help you connect with other relatives with Comal County roots.  Here are the instructions...

To post a Query:
1. Go to http://www.ccgsTexas.org
a. Login (this has advantages, see below)
2. Get to the Comal County Queries forum (you can do this two ways)
a. Click on "Queries" on the left menu, or
b. Click on "Discussion Groups" on the left menu, then "Comal County Queries" in the center window.
3. You should now be able to see all the previous queries
4. Click the "new thread" button
5. Under "Subject" type the title of your Query.
Use good genealogy query techniques. Capitalize surnames. Give a place and/or timeframe.
6. Under "Message Body" type the full text of your query.
7. Check the "notify me when a reply is posted" if you want (see below)
8. Click on the "Send" button to post the query.

To reply to a Query:
1. Go to http://www.ccgsTexas.org
a. Login (this has advantages, see below)
2. Get to the Comal County Queries forum (you can do this two ways)
a. Click on "Queries" on the left menu, or
b. Click on "Discussion Groups" on the left menu, then "Comal County Queries" in the center window.
3. You should now be able to see all the previous queries
4. Select the query title that you are interested in.
5. You should see full text of the query.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page. You should see a Reply box to enter your text.
7. Check the "notify me when a reply is posted" if you want (see below)
8. Click on the "Send" button to post the reply.


NOTE: 1) If you login first, you will have more options.
For example, you can be notified when someone has posted a reply to your query.
It will also display your ID as the person entering the query.
You can also subcribe to topics so that you are notified any time a new post is made.
2) The other Discussion Group forums work in the same way. A set of topics has been
set up. We can add others if you like as well.
