TSGS Annual Conference, November 5-6, 2010

The 2010 convention of the Texas State Genealogical Society will be in Waco, Texas across the street from the Waco Suspension Bridge over the Brazos River. The convention is hosted by the Central Texas Genealogical Society and the theme is "Bridging Generations".

Sophienburg Museum and Archives hosting TRACES' Vanished: German-American Civilian Internment, 1941-48

The Sophienburg Museum and Archives is hosting a special exhibit January 7-23, 2010. During WWII, the U.S. Government interned 15,000 German-American civilians at over 60 camps and detention centers across the country with eight of them in Texas. A non-profit organization based in Minnesota, TRACES, has created a travelling exhibit that tells the story of this unique time in our history.

Book Release: The War Between the States - Participants from Comal County, Texas

CCGS member Wilfred Schlather has published his research on Civil War participants from Comal County. Over six hundred individuals are tabulated to chronicle the service of Comal County citizen soldiers during the war between the states. Actual soldier's records were used to document the service of each individual. Information on militia (home guard) units is also listed.
