He was <BR>> a<BR>> pallbearer at my great grandfather's funeral!<BR>><BR>><BR>> Eugen Kailer<BR>><BR>> Saturday morning at 8 am after a short illness Eugen Kailer died from a<BR>> heart attack aged 52. The deceased was born December 4th 1847 in<BR>> Gummersbach, Rhine-Prusssia, Germany and took part in the <BR>> Franco-German-War<BR>> as an officer. In 1881 he came to Texas where he was a salesman for the<BR>> well-known City Brewery for some time. After having been Director of the<BR>> Hotel Guadelupe in Neu Braunfels for a while he became the Editor of the <BR>> Neu<BR>> Braunfelser Zeitung until August 1st 1899 when he took over the well known<BR>> Inn 'Farmer's Home' here in Seguin.The deceased was a member of the Lodge <BR>> of<BR>> Hermann's Sons, the 'Neu-Braunfelser Gegenseitige Unterstuetzungs-Verein'<BR>> and the 'Seguin Liederkranz'.Eugen Kailer was an honest, upright,<BR>> unpreposessing man who has made friends everywhere because of his<BR>> personality.Grieving at his grave are his widow and 2 daughters; a son<BR>> already passed away many years ago.The funeral took place Sunday afternoon<BR>> at 2 pm in the Riverside Cemetary whith a great many people attending. Mr<BR>> Hugo Gosemann gave a very moving eulogy.The pallbearers were Messr. A.R.<BR>> Heidrich, William Weinert, Theo. Koch, V. Buschhardt, Otto Heilig and <BR>> Herm.<BR>> Floege, the last two living in Neu-Braunfels.May the deceased rest<BR>> peacefully in his grave!
