After a 14-year effort and support by all of you Foundation members, the state historical marker will be placed in front of the Harrison & McCulloch Stage Stop at 2:00 p.m., July 4th, at the Selma Stage Stop Park.  This is late notice, but as always it took time to coordinate with the City staff.  The Visitors Center will be open for viewing with the beginnings of what we hope will be more exhibits inside.  If you remember, the Selma Historical Foundation paid for the initial exhibits and our member, Jim Burdett, did the framing and with the help of another member, Jose Silva, hung the exhibits in the Visitors Center.  Gilbert Medina from the state museum did the graphics and layout for us at a much reduced cost.  Come and see their handiwork if you are in the area next week.
The Randolph Metrocom Chamber of Commerce will be vacating the Visitors Center mid-September and City staff will be taking over the location.  Hours should be 8am – 5pm, but still no Saturdays open.  Hopefully, that will change in the near future with volunteers allowed to open the Center for at least the mid-day hours on Saturdays for tourists and visitors.
All the best —
Jean Heide
