Description:	The Texas German Dialect Project (TGDP) is an umbrella organization for carrying out research in representative Texas German speech communities in central Texas. The goals of the TGDP are: * to preserve the Texas German dialect as it reflects the rich cultural and linguistic traditions of its residents * to gather basic research information about linguistic diversity in order to understand the nature of language variation and change * to provide information about language differences and language change for public and educational interests * to use the material collected in research projects for the improvement of educational programs about language and culture

Description:	Did you know that Charles Dickens wrote about the Germans in Texas? Yes he did in 1857 in his weekly printed journal. Thanks to Google and Stanford University (the owner of a copy of the book) the 1857 compilation of these weekly journals are now available freely online. You can view the pages just as they were printed in 1857.

Description:	Designated as a National Historic Trail in 2004, El Camino Real de los Tejas (Highway 6 in Louisiana and Highway 21 in Texas) has existed for more than 300 years. El Camino Real has its easternmost beginning in Natchitoches, Louisiana and runs from Piney Woods through rolling hills to the arid lands of Old Mexico.

Description:	An 11.5 acre site prominently featuring the historic Breustedt-Dillen house, an early Texas fachwerk farmhouse, which houses a circa 1845-1880 collection of over seventy pieces of handmade Biedermeir furniture by featuring local cabinet makers Jahn, Stautzenberger, and Scholl. A cabinet shop, log cabin, and summer kitchen are also on the tour.

Description:	The Sophienburg: New Braunfels Archives and Museum of History. Dedicated to preserve the history of the settlement of New Braunfels and the subsequent development of this city and area of Texas. The Sophienburg Museum relates the history through the display of artifacts and displays of early life in New Braunfels. The Sophienburg Archives preserves the written history of the area through thousands of collections of personal and public documents.
